Kasana-Luweero diocese has cautioned head teachers of Catholic-founded schools in the area against relenting on instilling discipline among learners at the expense of prioritizing good grades.

The diocesan education secretary Bro Anthony Musisi last week charged the head teachers, drawn from Luweero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts to appreciate that most parents were interested in the good standards of teaching and morals.

Speaking during a meeting, to formally start the second term at Holy Cross SS in Kikyusa, Musisi also urged school heads to ensure good accountability for funds.

“You well know that society out there keeps an eye on our schools because a lot is expected from our products. Let us ensure that we don’t betray our parents who entrust us with their children,” he said.

During the same meeting, the diocese launched an essay writing competition for the 20 schools in the area, to improve learners’ appreciation of English. Bishop Paul Ssemogerere is expected to award the three best students at a function before the end of the year.
