Last week, the French Foreign ministry conducted classes in specialised diplomatic communication for Victoria University students of the International Relations and Diplomatic Studies programme.
The training was facilitated by Alessandro Giorgini, the deputy director of Communication and Press at the French ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. It was his first visit to Uganda.

According to Giorgini, the meeting was intended to provide the students with concrete information on the main challenges in diplomatic communication.
“We have common challenges and common solutions to find and our task is to facilitate the work of journalists by giving them proper information about foreign policy and diplomatic initiatives,” Giorgini said.
The two-day workshop also featured sessions with Ugandan diplomats from the local Foreign Affairs ministry. The workshop was organised in association with the prestigious French National School of Administration (ENA).
ENA is the most prestigious institution in France for training civil servants, including diplomats.
Speaking to The Observer, Stephen Robert Isabalija, Victoria University vice chancellor, expressed his gratitude for this training opportunity and said the university was looking forward to further collaboration with the French government in skills development.
French Ambassador Sophie Makame thanked Victoria University for accepting to host the training and pledged continued support to the education sector.
